Rumor: Sony Working on New Selfie-Focused Smartphone With 13 MP Camera
A recent leak suggests that Sony is hard at work on yet another smartphone that will allow consumers to capture better selfies.
The new device comes on the heels of Xperia C4, a selfie-focused phone that was launched not long ago. Sony’s new smartphone, though, will feature more megapixels for the front camera and is codenamed Lavender.
According to leaked images showcasing the front of the device, Lavender will have an extremely thing bezel lining for the sides, with soft padding at the top and bottom portion. The front facing camera and the flash are positioned in a way similar to that on the C4, and it’s safe to assume that the final product might just look identical as well.
As for its specifications, Lavender is said to sport a MediaTek MT6752 64Bit 1.7GHz Octa-Core processor with a Mali-T760 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The display should be full HD, which is going to be an upgrade from the 720p offering on the C4. Additionally, the size of the screen will also be larger and an improvement over the 5.5-inch screen of the C4.
Lavender’s cameras are going to be 13 MP Sony IMX214 sensor.
The leak does not provide us with a release date, but there are credible rumors about Sony preparing a launch event towards the end of the month. We could see this smartphone being revealed then.
