Rumor: Apple Plans to Buy BlackBerry
Apple plans on buying BlackBerry Inc., wait what? Another BlackBerry rumor? Or is it true this time around. Allegedly the Cupertino-based company is planning on buying BlackBerry since (you know the whole not-so-profitable era has started for BB).
Apple Inc. is reportedly after BlackBerry’s 44,000 patents, and it’s no surprise that this could be true as the company is having a difficult time, while on the other hand Apple has a strong 72 percent majority share.
By the end of first quarter, BlackBerry’s shares decreased by 1 percent and Apple plans on buying the company for tightening its enterprise market share before the company collapses. However, these rumors did not affect the credibility of BB instead increased the closing stock by 6 percent on May 11 at $10.46.
However this is not the first time a rumor regarding BB giving away its ownership to another company has occurred. Previously, Samsung and Google were also rumored to be involved in a buyout.
The buyout with Apple is highly unlikely, firstly because Apple would not want to involve their money somewhere where it is likely to go down the drain (Apple is known for ‘protecting’ its money) and secondly, BlackBerry would not even go for it. Reason being the change from smartphones to key involving new sales and software developments.
Even if it were forced to choose this option, BB won’t go down without a fight. The only reason why a buyout makes sense is if Apple wants to up their security system as BlackBerry has amazing security solutions something that the defense department uses as well.
