Google Releases Its News & Weather App for Apple Watch
Google has launched its first Apple Watch application, following a rather silent treatment that the company had been showcasing since the release of the smartwatch.
The most recent update to the iOS News & Weather app is all about compatibility. Users can interact with basic functions, like swiping through headlines and images. Under a dozen headlines can be glanced through, or scrolled down for seeing accompanying photos for each story.
However, users can’t read stories or excerpts directly from the application. It also doesn’t allow users to continue reading the story on their iPhones. You, though, can choose to save the articles to the Reading List found in Safari by initiating a Force Click.
Developers have been releasing applications for the Apple Watch left and right since it was launched in April. As for Google, it generally has integrated the same functionality you can find on Android. The latest update to its News & Weather app on iOS is probably the first step in testing the new waters. While it may take its sweet time, you can expect it and other companies to continue pushing new updates and apps for Apple’s smartwatch.
