Rumor: Snapdragon 818 Specifications Leaked
Those disappointed in the performance and reported overheating issues of the Snapdragon 810 should now look over to the upcoming Snapdragon 818 variant.
According to a recent leak that unveiled the processor’s specifications, the Snapdragon 818 will be featuring a 10-core processor with 4x Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2GHz, two Cortex cores at 1.6GHz, while the remaining four Cortex-A72 will be running at 2.0GHz. Here, the Cortex-A72 is supposedly an incredibly powerful processor which is in mass production right now. Additionally, the Snapdragon 818 chip will also come with a new Adreno 532 GPU, LPDDR4 RAM and LTE Cat.10 connectivity.
In comparison, Mediatek’s MT6797 Helio X20 offers a 10-core processor that hosts 4x Cortex-A53 at 1.4GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 at 2.0GHz and 2x Cortex-A72 clocked at 2.3-2.5GHz. It additionally has a 4-core Mali-T880 MP4, but relies on LPDDR3 RAM and LTE Cat.6 modem. Furthermore, the high-end chip is capable of recording at 4K resolution at an astonishing 120 frames-per-second, as well as 4K HDR capturing.
