Apple Watch Has a Clunky Web Browsing Experience
The Apple Watch is fitted with an impressive display that is supposed to be fully capable of providing a good web browsing experience. Those wondering just how well the smartphone is able to utilize a web browser would be disappointed in knowing that the current tools give off a very clunky feel.
In a video of renowned iOS jailbreaker Comex putting the smartwatch to the test, it is realized that most web sites are not optimized for the small screen. The content either looks too small or too large when zooming in and out.
It should be mentioned that Comex managed to get a browser up and running on the device, since Apple does not offer Safari on its smartwatch.
In the video – seen here – Comex fiddles with Google Search and can be seen trying hard to correctly navigate the page. The experience is anything but smooth. The sluggish response is probably also because Apple Watch is not meant to run native apps and instead relies on official iOS apps to display content.
The outcome is hardly surprising though. The Apple Watch – with its small form factor – was never meant to be a device for browsing the web. Then again, websites can always be optimized to a certain extent. It would be interesting to see just how the Apple Watch improves with time.
