Samsung Gear VR Released for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
Enthusiasts waiting for the release of the Oculus Rift can opt now for the Samsung Gear VR to get a taste of the virtual reality experience.
The updated Gear VR Innovator Edition is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge variant phones for $199.99. Unlike the other virtual reality kits that are in development, the Gear VR pairs with Samsung’s smartphones and uses the phone’s display to immerse the user in VR.
The first Gear VR was released for the Galaxy Note 4 only. However, with the new iteration, owners of Samsung’s new flagship smartphones can also join in on the fun.
According to the company, a lot of improvements have been made to the program. The performance with the Galaxy S6/Edge phones is said to be better than the original experience with the Galaxy Note 4.
The new headset is lighter and smaller in scale when compared to the original. The straps have been redesigned for better weight balance and Samsung has also included additional padding on the rear strap for a more comfortable experience. Importantly, the new headset has a USB port that can be used to charge the phone while it’s connected. This ensures a longer immersive session.
The new Exynos Octacore mobile processor always plays a pivotal role in performance, and the picture quality is said to be incredibly sharp and excellent.
