Nintendo Plans to Bring Only 5 Games to iOS by 2017
A couple of months back, Nintendo announced that it would finally be creating games for iPhone and iPad devices. In the company’s recent financial earnings call, the company revealed just how it plans to go about this.
By March 2017, Nintendo plans to release just five games. It acknowledged that the number is relatively low and the community was probably expecting at least twice the amount. However, there are good reasons behind this decision.
Regarding the number of the titles, you may want to know that we will release approximately five titles by the end of the next fiscal year, which is the end of March 2017.
According to Nintendo, simply porting existing games to smartphones and tablets “wouldn’t match the play styles of smart devices.” Such an action would not be feasible and the company is aiming “to make every title a hit.”
The iOS project is being headed by Hideki Konno, who acted as producer for the insanely popular Mario Kart 8. If anyone knows how to get things done, it’s Konno. Fans can rest assure that while Nintendo plans to bring only five games to the iOS, under Konno those games are going to be worth it.
