Motorola Releases Android 5.1 for Moto X in Brazil as Soak Test
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update has begun rolling out to the second-generation Moto X users in Brazil today, Motorola has announced.
In a new blog post today, the company revealed that the initial release of the update is going to act as a soak test for users who bought their devices from retail partners in the region.
It wasn’t revealed for what period of time Motorola plans to continue monitoring the release for irregularities. It, though, is expected of Motorola to widen the roll-out for Brazilian users soon.
The company did, however, mention that even though the Brazilian release is a soak test, Motorola is currently testing the software for release in other countries and on carrier devices as well.
The statement signals that users in the US should not have to wait that long to grab hold of the update.
Additionally, Motorola announced that the update will bring a new “chop twice for flashlight” Moto Action as well. The blog post noted that under the new action, users can “chop” their phone twice to quickly activate the flashlight application.
