The Increasing Demand of Patents for Technology to Read People’s Minds
The new era of manipulating reality and altering human reaction has officially begun, companies are taking out massive patents for technology in regards with reading brainwaves and several other applications.
Companies are filling out patents in huge amount for reading people’s mind. The technology filled in these patents does not only include healthcare applications but it can also artificially alter the user’s mood and improve video game control.
Alvaro Fernandez, company’s CEO believes that the huge popularity of patents is a sign that we all are witnessing the beginning of ‘the pervasive neurotechnology age’.
“Neurotech has gone well beyond medicine, with non-medical corporations, often under the radar, developing neurotechnologies to enhance work and life.”
The technology that has been patented has a few other uses, which include changing the nature of feelings and the thoughts of the user. With regards to medicine, it is also claiming that the technology will help improving visions and evaluate brain lesions.
The Neuro-Technology related patents are the ones in demand today. Over the years, the number of patents filed has increased drastically. Between 2000 and 2009, nearly 400 such patents were filed, however in 2010 alone it increased to 800. According to SharpBrains, a research company, 1600 patents were filed last year.
So as you all can see, these patents for technology are very much in demand and sound promising. However, other details about the technology like its exact purpose and reliability has not been confirmed as of yet. Nielsen, another research company, has the highest number of patents i.e. 100, whereas Microsoft is not too far behind and has 89 related patents.
