The ZTE Nubia Z9 is Essentially Bezel-Free
The new ZTE Nubia Z9 boasts the thinnest bezels seen in recent times. Its 5.2-inch 1080p display comes to just 0.8mm in thickness, essentially making this device bezel-free.
Additionally, the thin glass slightly curves around the edges, giving off a pleasing sensation for users and viewers alike.
There’s more to this ultra-thin screen than just freedom from thick bezels. ZTE has implemented what it calls “Frame Interaction Technology.” Under this, users can perform a set of gestures by interacting with the bezel-free edges of the screen.
As an example, sliding your fingers down both edges will turn down the display’s brightness, while placing fingers in all four corners of the screen will open the camera application.
The phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC processor, with the 32 and 64 GB variants featuring 3 and 4 GB of RAM respectively. Alongside the usual connectivity features of Wi-Fi ac, LTE and Bluetooth 4.1, the phone comes with a promising 2,900 mAh battery that looks to power the device for a major portion of the day.
The camera for the Nubia Z9 is also impressive. The rear sensor is a 16-megapixel Sony IMX234, the same sensor used on the upcoming LG G4. Meanwhile the front camera packs eight megapixels and an 80-degree-wide lens.
The ZTE Nubia Z9 will go on sale on May 21 in China. The basic 32 GB model will retail for 3,499 yuan (around $565), while the 64 GB version will cost 3,999 yuan ($645). An “Exclusive” edition with a fingerprint sensor will also be available for 4,499 yuan ($725).
