Popcorn Time Releases iOS Installer For Mac, No Jailbreak Required
Popcorn has released the corresponding Mac version for its iOS app.
This announcement follows the recent launch of non-jailbreak iOS standalone Popcorn Time app. The app has become very popular among the users. Its popularity was obvious on the first day when it rolled out Windows installer for iOS – which runs the app without necessarily imposing the condition of jailbreaking – and was downloaded on over 100,000 iOS devices.
Now Popcorn Time is following its early success with the release of the Mac version of the installer. Working in a way similar to the Windows installer, it makes installation of the app an easier task for people.
The Popcorn dev team has expectations from its fork that it can be proven more useful in future after it is made public. That is, other apps can also use it — something that will boost its popularity to great extent. The popularity will certainly threaten Apple and other movie studios who are at absolute loss if their content is accessible for public without paying a penny.
Popcorn Time offers a huge collection of films and TV serials for free. It’s services have been greatly appreciated by number of bloggers who consider it as the “Netflix of Torrents.” It isn’t a source of comfort for businesses though. Just a week ago, The Motion Picture Association pleaded against Popcorn Time forks. Consequently, the UK court ruled the app as illegal and should be banned by service providers in the UK.
