Facebook Instant Articles to Bring Content to Pages, Goodbye Links!
It has been a long time since publishers have been using Facebook pages to draw traffic to their content by sharing links to the content that the users will click and visit their sites – a revenue plan that is pretty much straight froward for many now.
However, all this might be changing with the introduction of instant articles. This is a new feature that the social media giant is expected to launch very soon.
After the feature is launched, the website will host content for the publishers right at the page itself. In a layman’s language, users will be able to read up entire articles straight from the Pages instead of having to click on a link and visiting the website that has the content.
So what do the publishers get out from this?
It is simple, the ad revenue they generated from their own website will now be earned from the Facebook page itself.
Many of the publishers are skeptical about the instant articles because obviously, they will be turning over their content to Facebook, losing a lot of referral traffic, and face the risk of users heading to their competitors a lot more than they did from their own website.
However, we are talking about the potential promotion of their content by the biggest social media giant and that could mean a lot.
It is going to be a trade off, a pretty big one!
Let’s just wait until some financial information regarding the whole Facebook instant articles based ad revenue is shared and then we will see who is the winner here.
