Project Spartan Browser Gets an Official Name of ‘Microsoft Edge’
For years, I have wanted Internet Explorer to die and now that it’s finally happening, but it’s not easy letting go of something I’ve hated for so long.
However, the future of web browsing on Windows is Project Spartan. The browser was revealed as part of the new Windows 10 but at the time, no official name was shared. Although I would love for it to be called Spartan, Microsoft has given it another name, Microsoft Edge!
Microsoft revealed the new name along with some fresh details about the browser at its annual developers’ conference.
The logo of Project Spartan is almost identical to the one for Internet Explorer. So it will surely bring back some memories. Hopefully, they aren’t identical in terms of performance.
The color of the logo is a bit darker and the direction of the swirls are changed for Edge. As for the features, it is much faster and lighter compared to the old IE. It also comes with the ability to draw on top of the web pages. On top of that, it comes with Microsoft’s Cortana Al built-in for searches.
Not too long ago, the company said they wanted a name for Project Spartan that would help deal with the negative image of Internet Explorer.
After a bit of research, Microsoft came to a conclusion that fans like products with the word “Microsoft” in their names. Hence, Microsoft Edge!
Also, if you happen to be among those who liked IE, then rest assured it will be a part of Windows 10 but it can’t said for how long.
