OnePlus 2 Will Use the Invite-Only System, The One Drops It
When OnePlus One came out, it wasn’t available to the masses. There was an invite system in place which made it pretty hard to get our hands on the device. It was believed to be a tactic from the company to give the mobile an exclusive feel.
However, we have some good news for people who are still waiting to grab a unit. OnePlus has announced in a new blog post that OnePlus One will no longer use the invite system. Meaning anyone who wants a OnePlus One, can get the one anytime.
The company said they have sold over 1 million OnePlus One phones and learned a lot from the feedback fans gave. OnePlus One was released one year ago on April 23rd and since then the company has evolved quite a lot.
The Chinese handset maker thinks the best way to celebrate the one year anniversary of OnePlus One, is to make it available to all. Sales are open 24/7 around the globe.
The experience OnePlus gained with its One phone, it now wants to utilize it for the release on OnePlus 2 (yes, the 2nd-gen handset is spelled as a number instead of letters). So, when the new smartphone comes out later this year, it will bring back the invite-only system along with it. Meaning sales system will be the same as it was for OnePlus One till now.
The company believes it will help them manage the risks that come with a new product release. It’s understandable I think.
Do you think the invite-only system is the best way to sell OnePlus 2?
