Game of Thrones Pirates Threatened by HBO with Warnings
So guys, did you enjoy the first four leaked episodes of Game of Thrones Season 5? I am sure most of you did, but here’s the problem, HBO is not cool with what happened and they are really stepping up their game against piracy.
According to recently revealed details, emails were sent by HBO to numerous ISPs asking their support in curbing the ever increasing pirated downloads of the season.
So far, the details that have reached us are suggesting two requests that have been made by HBO to multiple internet service providers.
They are asking them to contact and warn the internet users against piracy of “HBO content” (read Game of Thrones), and/ or remove their services.
Here’s the exact wording they used:
Contact the subscriber who has engaged in the conduct described above and take steps to prevent the subscriber from further downloading or uploading HBO content without authorization. In addition, ISPs may want to take additional measures such as disconnecting the accounts of repeat infringers.
Take appropriate action against the account holder under your Abuse Policy/Terms of Service Agreement.
Of course that is not all, they have also been sending warnings to internet subscribers who have been publicly sharing the episodes of Game of Thrones that were leaked.
However, I do not see the piracy being stopped any time soon; unless of course if the ISPs start taking some extreme measures against it.
Do you think these warnings sent out by HBO are going to have an effect?
