Report: Yahoo’s New App May Encapsulate Meerkat, YouNow, Skype And Snapchat
Releasing a messaging app which can encapsulate features of all the famous live-video apps such as Meerkat, YouNow, and Skype in addition to Snapchat, might be just an overwhelmingly wishful notion for many of the companies, but hey! Yahoo is pragmatic enough to do it. That is according to a report published by The Information.
In other words, the users won’t need to use different apps to send pictures, videos, messages, and to make webcam calls. They can perform all the aforesaid tasks with The Yahoo mobile app–which is a complete package in itself.
If the rumors come true, this will be commendable pioneering service on part of Yahoo. And it will surely bring a new twist in the mobile messaging wars which have already been advanced to “phase two” after the revolutionary services by WhatsApp and others, according to Amir Efrati of The Information.
Though the idea of ‘all-in-one’ app seems really intriguing, but don’t absorb it without a pinch of salt. This is because no confirmatory statement has been made by Yahoo Inc until the time of writing this article.
Separately, the publication also suggests on behalf of a source with knowledge of the project that Google is also developing a new messaging app called, “phone dialer.” The competition for producing competent apps is not only between Yahoo and Google; Facebook is also gearing up for a dialer app.
According to The Information:
Google, Yahoo and Facebook are all preparing their next products to turn mobile messaging into platforms for sharing media and commerce. Yahoo, in particular, is planning a high-stakes re-entry.
Keep coming back for that wonderful time when we will excite you with confirmation of such an app.
