CyanogenMod 12S Heading to OnePlus One This Week
God! It was becoming frustrating for OnePlus users to live without Lollipop version of Cyanogen OS. I have received a plethora of fan emails asking if I have come across any new information regarding its release on OnePlus One.
I am happy to say that you guys will soon be getting the Lollipop version of Cyanogen OS. The news was announced in a post by OnePlus, who says that the update has finally passed certification and will roll out in the coming days.
This is surely a relief for fans waiting to get their hands on the latest version.
The certification issue caused the CyanogenMod 12S to be delayed, which also forced OnePlus to giveaway five OnePlus One devices as they promised in case of a delay.
If you ask me, this pattern of committing to release dates and then delaying has to stop. This isn’t the first case and it won’t be the last. If you aren’t sure, if there’s even a hint of doubt, don’t commit to a release date. Otherwise it will cause nothing but disappointment among fans.
Thankfully, the company co-founder Carl Pei understands this, judging by his post on Twitter: “We’ve learned it’s irresponsible to give ETA’s when we’re not sure.”
OnePlus One has received exceptional success since release but fans have found it difficult to buy one. Some say it is a marketing tactic, if it is, it really works for OnePlus.
The company now plans to release OnePlus Two in the near future, but according to new rumors, they are still hoping to cash-in on OnePlus One for as long as possible, before releasing the successor.
