Outlook is Suffering From an Unforeseen Outage
Microsoft’s online mail service is experiencing unforeseen issues, according to Outlook Service Status page.
Several users are reporting inability to send/receive emails and failing to sync their messages using multiple email clients. The issue originally appeared on Outlook Service Status page where Microsoft acknowledged and promised to roll out a fix:
We are aware that users of the following mail clients are experiencing issues syncing and sending email. We are working on the issue and expect resolution in the next 24 hours. — Windows Live Mail — Outlook Connector — MSN Premium client — Windows Phone 8.1 — Windows 8 Mail Client.
Following the original update, the company issued another couple of updates before saying that the issue is taking more time to fix than they had hoped and users should check back by 02:00 PM:
Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped. We’ll provide an update by April 08 2:00 PM. We apologize for the lengthy interruption in service.
Our Take: it is hard to determine the overall scale of the issue since I can easily send/receive my emails using Windows Live Mail at the time of writing this.
In other Outlook news, Android recently rolled out an update for its Gmail Android App which now supports multiple Windows Live Mail and Yahoo! accounts in addition to Google Mail, allowing users to access their emails from separate accounts on a unified app.
