Microsoft Redstone, The Next Windows Update for 2016?
If you are a Minecraft fan, you will know that Redstone is an in-game element used for creating new technologies within the game. Now, there is something called Microsoft Redstone – what on earth could this be?
Well, for starters it is a codename for something bigger than just an in-game item and it is apparently something Microsoft is working on.
Based on alleged inside news, it is the next update to Windows after Windows 10. It is being claimed that the update is being scheduled to be released in 2016.
You would know that Windows 10 was previously codenamed Threshold – interestingly, this is also based on a Microsoft owned game IP, Halo. Now Threshold includes the major Windows 10 and then some other minor updates that are to be made to it after the OS is released.
Rumors suggest that Microsoft Redstone is the codename for a similar set of plans for the year 2016 except that it will be a much larger update than the minor ones that Windows 10 is going to get later this year.
It will allegedly introduce new functionalities as well as support with regards to other devices that are not going to be a part of the list at the time of the launch of Windows 10.
You can put it this way: Microsoft Redstone is going to be the update that brings in features that are somehow, going to be missed out on in the initial release.
Obviously, none of this has been confirmed by the officials which means you should take it with the proverbial grain of salt – until any confirmation comes along.
