Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Arrives On LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition
Google is releasing latest Android updates for Google Play Edition devices. The latest among these devices is the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition for which Android 5.1 Lollipop has been released. The users can expect over-the-air update to arrive on their devices anytime soon.
Users who are running stock Android on their G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition can go to Settings, scroll down to About tablet, and check whether the system update is available or not. If it is, the update will be downloaded and installed automatically, updating the software to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Note that this update with build number LGGP83GPE, is approximately 204 MB in size.
Those who have either flashed their tablet or changed the ROM and want to install this update need to flash a factory image, which can be downloaded from here.
This update mainly focuses on the issues many Android users have been complaining about since updating their devices to the Android Lollipop. These issues are minor problems which have been fixed in the update.
Some new features have been introduced too. For instance, Device Protection allows you to lock the device in case it gets lost or stolen. The device is unlocked only when the user signs in using his or her Google account.
LG G Pad 8.3 GPE is one of the first tablets to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update. Google’s own Nexus 9, both generations of Nexus 7, and Nexus 4 smartphone have not yet received this update.
The update was recently released for Moto G Google Play Edition as well.
