MultiMeer Allows You To See Multiple Meerkat Streams At Once
A brand new app called MultiMeer is now available on iOS, that will let you watch more than one live streams at once. Live streaming is the ongoing trend as platforms like Twitch and newly released Periscope app is becoming more and more popular.
Meerkat is an app that highly contributes to the popularity of live streaming, but thanks to MultiMeer we can now watch multiple Meerkat streams at once. While it sounds interesting, the only issue I see is connection speeds. Running different streams at once smoothly will require more than a decent internet connection. This may cause issues for some.
Keep in mind that this app is compatible with iOS 8.0 or later and will run on iPhone, iPad or iPod. It’s optimized for iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus. It’s free and available to download from the App Store.
As for Meerkat, it’s in a lot of trouble right now as twitter released its own streaming app just a few days ago. Periscope is much better than Meerkat and allows users to replay videos. That’s a feature Meerkat lacks and if developers want to compete against such a big competitor, they should add the replay feature as soon possible.
The replay feature allows you to re-watch videos for the next 24 hours. You can also share a link that will allows viewers to see the footage on Twitter. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Meerkat no longer supports Twitter.
Twitter support was one of the most popular aspects of the Meerkat which notified users of live streams from their friends. Twitter axed this ability in fear of it becoming an issue for Periscope.
This has certainly broken the momentum and it will be interesting to see how Meerkat counters this. Do you think Meerkat has what it takes to beat Periscope? Let us know of your take in the comments.
