Want to Enable WhatsApp Web Client on iPhone? Here’s How
WhatsApp made waves when it launched a Web-based version of its messaging service back in January. Known as ‘WhatsApp Web,’ the service allows users to communicate with their contacts right from their desktop.
The Web Client offers complete support for image, video and audio file transfers, and what makes it even more incredible is the ease of setting the service up in your Internet browser. And once it’s set up, you’ll be able to get the instantaneous notification alerts as they’re received on your phone.
WhatsApp Web Client is currently available for users on the Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry platforms. However, if you’re an iPhone owner, you need not to be downheated as we’ve just found a new jailbreak tweak that should help you get aboard the web client bandwagon.
WhatsApp Web Enabler is a jailbreak tweak for the iPhone that enables WhatsApp’s Web interface on the iOS platform. The only requisite for using this tool is that your iPhone must be jailbroken on the latest iOS software with latest iteration of WhatsApp installed on it.
Enable WhatsApp Web Client on iPhone
Step 1: Download the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS and install it on your iPhone.
Step 2: Launch Cydia and look for the WhatsApp Web Enabler tweak and install it.
Step 3: Go to Settings app and you should see a ‘WhatsApp Web’ button added there. Head over to the Preferences and enable the tweak.
Step 4: Force-quit WhatsApp and reopen it.
Step 5: Tap on the Settings tab and select WhatsApp Web and then hit “OK. Got it.”
Step 6: Launch the web browser on your desktop computer. Keep in mind that the Web Client only supports Chrome, Firefox and Opera. It won’t work with Safari.
Step 7: Now focus your iPhone to scan the QR code on the webpage. Once you’ve read the code, you should be automatically signed into the WhatsApp Web interface.
As for the official support for WhatsApp Web Client for iOS, don’t expect it to come anytime soon as Apple currently has certain platform limitations in implementing the new service.
WhatsApp Web Enabler is available for free from the BigBoss repository in Cydia. The tweak supports iOS 4 till iOS 8.x on iPhone.
