Android Lollipop Incoming for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra?
It has been a while since Android Lollipop went live, but it is a fact that companies get these upgrades one by one with time.
This time around it could be that Sony’s Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact are about to get the latest Android OS very soon!
As far as Sony’s Android Lollipop support plan is concerned, they had previously promised that all the smartphones in the Xperia Z family were going to get upgraded to the latest OS sooner or later.
Of course they didn’t share any specific dates which left room for a lot of speculations; some suggested that it will be launched very late, others were confident that it won’t take too long.
What we have at hand now is a pretty solid reason to believe that the Android Lollipop operating system upgrade to the Xperia smartphones might just be around the corner.
What happened was that the good folks at XperiaBlog stumbled upon a new firmware build 14.5.A.0.242 which had been certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. The fact that it is a whole new build, and that it is getting certified at a time when there could be no otehr reason as valid as the launch of Lollipop makes us feel confident that we are right.
Other news relating to the Sony Xperia family include a fiasco where the Xperia Lounge (an official news source of Sony) mistakenly leaked the image as well as some details on the upcoming Xperia Z4 Tablet. A little before that, the Xperia E4 Wallet Friendly smartphone was revealed officially by the company.
So what do you think of this, could we get the Anroid 5.0 Lollipop on the three devices by the end of April?
