OxygenOS Delayed by OnePlus, Gives Away Five Smartphones
Well, don’t kill me but I really hoped for this delay. Because I really wanted to get my hands on a 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, in the words of the great Adrian Monk, “here’s what happened.”
OnePlus said they will release OxygenOS during the last week of March. If they missed the deadline, which we now know they did, they will giveaway five 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One handsets to the community members. OS is delayed and smartphones are given away but sadly, I didn’t get one, damn it!
Anyways, you should rest assured that the OS is working properly and there’s nothing wrong with it. So why the delay you ask? Apparently, OnePlus is extra cautious and want to make sure the best build goes out. They explained this in a post:
The ROM is fully functional and we have quite a few people in the office running it on their own devices without any issues. The delay is caused by extra quality control. We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification, that all future updates can be OTA’ed properly, and that users from all over the world are able to use OxygenOS in the language of their choice.
The post further shared the news of daily updates regarding the development of OxygenOS until release. You can read the full post here.
In related news, during a Reddit AMA (Ask me anything) session OnePlus reps said the company will release a Drone. Yes, you read it right, a drone is in development.
According to Carl Pei and David S, the device OnePlus has been teasing over the past several weeks is a drone named DR-1. No details about this project were shared but an image was posted showing an icon of the drone. I doubt it’s an actual drone but what could it be besides that?
Do you think there’s an actual drone in development? Or is this just prank ahead of April Fools Day next week?
