Report: Apple To Launch Three New iPhones By The End Of This Year
Apple is going to launch three new iPhone models in the second half of this year, reports DigiTimes.
As per the report, two of the models will come with the usual “S” class while the third one will introduce a new “C” designation, which will feature a 4-inch display. If the model is launched with the reported name “iPhone 6C,” it will succeed iPhone 5c — the low-end, polycarbonate-bodied iPhone which was launched in 2013. If the rumors are to be believed, iPhone 6C will be running on A8 system-on-chip silicon.
The stock for iPhone 6C will be supplied by Japan Display, Sharp and LG Display. Japan Display and LG will also contribute in the production of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The screen of iPhone 6S and 6S plus will be 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch respectively.
Industry sources have apparently disclosed a good chunk of information about the Apple’s future planning. As we proceed further, the publication also reveals the expected manufacturers of the alleged iPhones. It says that Wistron is likely to manufacture the iPhone 6C, while Foxconn and Pegatron will possibly the manufacturers of 6S and 6S Plus.
More important than the model names are the features which the iPhones will enclose. All the three models will be equipped with Touch ID fingerprint recognition feature, Corning Gorilla Glass, and NFC. Both of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will run on A9 chip. It is worth mentioning here that the chip has not been announced yet. So its usage in the next iPhone iteration is somehow surrounded by skepticism.
Along with these basic capabilities, it can be anticipated that Apple will bring couple of new features as well. Because without introducing any new technology, unveiling of a successor doesn’t make much sense. The Cupertino company may integrate its new camera technology with the high-end iPhone models. It has just filed a new patent in which it has explained that new camera technology will promise better quality images. But again, that is just a guess, a possibility.
Possibility of a 4-inch display device was seen by analyst Timothy Arcur who said that the iPhone maker wanted to reduce the manufacturing costs. In addition to this, few customers also disliked the big-screened iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. So this time, Apple is addressing concerns of all types of customers.
