12-inch Retina Macbook Accessories Revealed, Apple Has Officially Gone Nuts
If I would have to describe Apple’s new 12-inch Retina Display in one word, I would say rip-off. Can you imagine paying $1,600 for a notebook without any dedicated ports? Not even one for charging. You can’t connect more than one device at a time as there is just one USB Type C-port, that’s it!
To me, it looks like Apple has officially gone bonkers.
Apple revealed their 12-inch Retina MacBook recently, which no doubt is absolutely gorgeous. It weighs only two pounds and is one of the thinnest devices I have ever seen. It’s a sign of innovation from Apple but as amazing as this device is, Apple has taken a huge risk by removing some basic elements of a laptop.
There are two variants of the new MacBook, both feature the Retina Display but one comes with 256GB HDD space ($,299) while other packs 512GB of space and a faster processor ($1,599).
To meet the shortcomings of the device when it comes to ports, Apple has announced a range of accessories. I guess that’s a pretty profitable way of adding basic features which should have been there from the start.
Apple is offering a $19 USB-C to USB adaptor, it’s useful if you wish to plug in a normal USB device into the new Type C port. You’ll definitely be needing this one if you want to connect your iPhone.
Next up, is a $29 USB-C Charge Cable, this 2-meter long cable is used to charge the new MacBook. It doesn’t end there, oh no sir, you can also buy a USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter or USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. Both are available for $79. People who want to connect their MacBooks to a monitor, can’t be allowed to do so by just spending $1,600, that’s just insane.
Last but not the least, there is a $49 29w USB-C Power Adapter without a USB-C Power Cable. Meaning you will have to buy that separately.
Other companies should take notes from Apple on how to rip people off in the name of innovation. Hats off to Apple!
