Amazon Unveils Four Mobile Games For iPhone And iPad
With the advent of Mobile World Congress and Games Developers Conference, Amazon has been feeling low in the shadows. With Microsoft, LG and Huawei basking in the spotlight from their announcements of smartphones, Amazon has decided to take on a different strategy, as its Fire phone just does not seem to fire in the market.
Amazon Games Studios is now attempting to up the dampened spirit of the company by unveiling four different, premium mobile games in the market:
- Lost Within
- Til Morning’s Light
- Tales From Deep Space
- To-Fu Fury
The first two titles are brand new attempts by the company, which had acquired Reflexive Entertainment in 2008 and Double Helix Games in 2014. On the other hand, 3 and 4 are already well known in Amazon’s mobile game store. Moreover, all of these games will be available for iPhone, iPad and Fire devices.
“We wanted these games to be the best along some dimension,” Vice President of Amazon Game Studios, Mike Frazzini, told The Verge.
“Lost Within” is a horror survival game which is set in an abandoned asylum, where users get to choose how to deal with situations – stealthily or head-on. “Til Morning’s Light” is a haunting, touch-based action-adventure game focused on exploration. “Tales From Deep Space” is an extreme sci-fi adventure where players don the avatar of two reluctant heroes who are made to fight in treacherous battles. “To-Fu Fury” which was also made available on the Fire Phone last July, is a fast-paced and action packed puzzle medium.
Even though there is no final date for release announced yet, the e-commerce giant is seeking to aim the mobile game zealots so that they stay loyal to the ill fated Fire phone in greed of the titles.
However, Amazon is going old-school with the pricing strategy of the games. It will be ditching the “freemium model” system and set a tag of straight $6.99, as well as featuring in-app purchases.
The games were also showcased during the PAX East in Boston, during March 6 till March 8, allowing potential users to see and experience the game titles in live action.
Even though Lost Within and Til Morning’s Light seem pretty terrific in black and white, the real judge of that would be the reviews the titles would have earned after the showcasing from Amazon, a few hours ago.
