Google is Planning to Redesign Its Mountain View Headquarters
Google campuses don’t resemble anything like your everyday workplace. They are a testament to Google’s flexible approach towards technology development. However, Google is planning to spend a fortune to redesign its Mountain View campuses to make them even more lavish.
The company has submitted its plans to redesign four sites of its Mountain View property to the Mountain View City Council. Their idea is the most unique as they want structures that can be moved. Instead of having concrete immovable structures, Google wants the “lightweight, block-like” buildings that can be shuffled and rearranged based on the company’s needs and the projects being worked on.
The buildings will also do a much better job of blending into the environment and being much more Eco friendly. Google wrote in a blog post:
..We’ll create lightweight block-like structures which can be moved around easily as we invest in new product areas. (Our self-driving car team, for example, has very different needs when it comes to office space from our Search engineers.) Large translucent canopies will cover each site, controlling the climate inside yet letting in light and air. With trees, landscaping, cafes, and bike paths weaving through these structures, we aim to blur the distinction between our buildings and nature.
Google’s new campuses will be eye popping, but they will only become a reality when The Mountain View City Council gives the go-ahead. Also, there is no mention of a deadline for this project. Google is yet to reveal when this project will be complete, if their plans are accepted.
Getting their plans approved won’t be easy for Google, as residents have already started complaining about the increased amount of traffic in the area, due to Google’s growth. Google will have to propose a proper traffic plan as well, to The Mountain View City Council.
All in all, this project will be a thing of beauty once completed. One can only hope to get a chance to see the campus in person. For more details, visit the official blog via the link posted above.
