Medium Revamps Itself to Include Shorter Posts, Following Tumblr
You would remember how Tumblr redid the way their posts work and introduced a little more focus on shorter entries. It looks like Medium is also going to follow in their footsteps.
The official website of the game got a new post detailing a revamped posting structure for the blog publishing platform.
It looks like the makers of Medium don’t like how their services are being regarded as a long form only platform. This is so because they think people who aren’t too good at blogging feel intimidated resulting in less content being created.
The first thing they have done related to the Inline Editor, this is what will let you post ideas straight to the homepage of Medium without having to worry about constructing a lengthy and well polished article.
We added a way to post right on the homepage of Medium. Start writing instantly. If you get inspired to turn it into something bigger, click over to the full-screen editor. Otherwise, keep it simple and publish it straight from there.
In line with this, the post listings have also been updated in the Stream. Now you will be able to “start reading a post and get a better sense of what it’s about without having to click through.” In some cases, you will also be able to recommend it without having to open it.
Lastly, Tags have been introduced to your posts; user generated Metadata will boost connectivity and make them become more discoverable. According to the developers this “will provide a highly effective form of connective tissue that makes Medium an even better place to share your perspective and find inspiration.”
