Google Has Acquired Yet Another Startup: Mobile Marketing Firm Toro
Google is persisting its discourse of acquiring startups. Hours earlier, I wrote that it has acquired Softcard Tech. Now the Internet giant has purchased a mobile marketing firm, Toro, which promises facile platform for developers to market their apps.
Toro has confirmed the News of getting acquired by Google via a blog post. It stated that “With greater resources and distribution now available at our disposal, we’re excited to join Google and continue our mission of making the lives of app developers easier.” By the same token, Google spokesperson has also confirmed the acquisition, reports TechCrunch. However, financial details have not been disclosed neither by Google nor by Toro.
Led by Amitt Mahajan and Joel Poloney, San Francisco-based startup Toro got most of its popularity due to its ad campaigns for Facebook. It eventually had become ‘Preferred Marketing Developer’ (PMD).
Toro which was known as Red Hot Labs Inc., has helped several apps in growing their audience. Now the company has decided not to address any new campaigns. However, it will keep supporting its existing customers by optimizing their campaigns and updating their dashboards. As read on the Toro blog:
For our existing marketing customers, we will continue to optimize your campaigns and update your dashboards, though campaign creation has been suspended for the time being. We recommend working with an alternative Facebook PMD for new campaigns going forward. For reporting customers, your reports will continue free of interruption. We want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who has supported our team and product along the way. We’re eager to get back to work building amazing products for you within Google!
The company has suggested new consumers to use any alternative Facebook PMD for advertisement purposes.
Though it wasn’t having a rugged financial ground as a separate firm, Toro is optimistic to get on the new route of more successes by joining Google as this will give startup an access to greater resources.
In its last message, the company has expressed its ambitions to “work building amazing products for you within Google,” and has thanked all users who supported Toro team and products.
