New Samsung Galaxy S6 Teaser Hints at All-Metal Body And Curved Anti-Reflective Display
Following its traditional marketing strategy, Samsung has begun promoting its upcoming Galaxy S phone way ahead of launch, and the latest teaser from the South Korean handset maker offers a sneak peak into the sleek outer shell that will enclose the device.
In the video, the narrator said “Tomorrow, metals will flow. Beauty will be powerful. Borders will disappear. Reflections will be free. Colors will live. The future will be the present.” This description seems to confirm the previous claims that the Galaxy S6 will have an all-metal design, bezel-free curved screen and an anti-reflective display. Here’s the video teaser:
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is set to be unveiled at the confirmed Unpacked event in advance of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The flagship device will be quite an upgrade from its predecessors in terms of specs and form factor. If an earlier leaked image is to be believed, the Galaxy S6 will draw its design aesthetics from the last year’s Galaxy Note Edge.
A recent report suggests that Samsung is planning to release two new versions of its flagship phone, one of which will feature a display covering three sides. Contrary to Note Edge’s one-sided curved display, the new version will come with a wraparound screen that spills over both right and left edges, the report claims.
The latest pre-Unpacked teaser sort of confirms these previous rumors hinting at the arrival of the device with a more urbane curvaceous display, and given the fact that the Edge received majority of positive reviews, the Galaxy S6 design is likely to be more favored than its larger, slightly older cousin.
As for the specs, the upcoming flagship is set to use Samsung’s new Exynos 7420 Octa chipset and 3GB of RAM. Powered by a 2,600mAh battery, the phone is rumored to feature a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED touchscreen, while the rear camera will apparently be a 16 MP unit with OIS. According to a previous report by SamMobile, the phone might come pre-installed with Microsoft apps including Microsoft OneNote, OneDrive, Office Mobile (with a free Office 365 subscription), and Skype.
Samsung is also reportedly planning to offer an optimized version of TouchWiz with less features, which is believed to be even faster than Android Lollipop on Galaxy Note 4. With this specs sheet, the Galaxy S6 is expected to come at par with its upcoming rivals such as the HTC One M9, LG G4 and the Sony Xperia Z4.
However we still have to wait till March 1 to know exactly what it has to offer. In the meanwhile, check the teaser above, and do let us know your thoughts about the upcoming Samsung flagship in the comments section below.
