Snapchat Now Lets You Make Videos Without Interrupting The Music
One of the most annoying features that the phone industry had never looked into before was of the music pausing while making videos. But Snapchat has now catered the problem, allowing you to record your groovy dance moves to mobile music without any interruption in the music play.
Snapchat has lately been testing and adding new features to its application, like in-house production of web series. So the new feature can now let you play music from iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, and other apps while recording – without any inconvenient pausing.
The feature has rolled out for iOS so far with Snapchat’s version 9.2.0, while Android’s version is in the pipeline.
Offering such a feature of allowing musical snaps will certainly add a lot of golden stars to the rising fame of Snapchat.
However, Snapchat’s decision to dissolve its partnership with music video app Mindie just before launching this feature now shows the actual reason for ending the deal. Mindie lets user select any song and then record a video along with it, which can be shared across other networks. But Snapchat had claimed there were security concerns which forced the company to abolish the deal this month. It then even went as far as resetting the passwords of their users who were using Mindie.
This feature has also paved the way for competition with video apps like Vine, as even their videos cause music pause during recording. For all the novice videographers out there, this just might be the start of your breakthrough moment.
Even though it apparently is a small feature, it still means huge for Snapchat’s venture into the music industry. It has been showing interest in utilizing music more widely, as it also echoes the interests of the younger target market which uses the app mostly.
Snapchat had even tinkered with promoting musicians and artists like Goldroom, Vance Joy and Strange Talk in its promos, where users were allowed to click through to the iTunes store to buy the track when the video promo ended.
Moreover, as Sony’s hack had revealed numerous plans of companies, Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel was caught discussing different ways that Snapchat could be used to promote music and artists alike. There was even talk of running its own label. Recently, however, it was rumored that Snapchat might buy Taylor Swift’s label, but nothing was confirmed or denied.
