Pinterest Now Lets you Download iOS Apps Directly
Have you been using Pinterest lately? While it is not as popular as Facebook or Twitter, it has an audience of its own and in the past years they have been working to develop it into something more interesting.
All this time they never gave too much interest to commercializing the platform but it seems the time is here now. Previously, they have been working to incorporate services in relation to cooking and travel specifically but now things are about to get more mainstream.
After a new partnership with Apple, Pinterest is going to let you download apps to your iPhone or iPads directly from the photo-based social website.
Apple has also launched its App Store profile on the website to show off the apps that are available to you.
Julie Black, the Product Manager at Pinterest, took to the official website with a post announcing the new feature. According to her, your time pinning is going to get a lot more interesting and useful. This is because you are going to be able to get any app that you think will be of need to you:
If you’re on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll see another kind of Pin: app Pins. Let’s say you’re Pinning workout inspiration to your Marathon Training board. If you see a fitness app that helps you reach your goals, you can download it right from Pinterest.
When you come across an app Pin, tap Install to download the app right to your iPhone or iPad without ever leaving Pinterest (you’ll only see app Pins when you’re using the Pinterest app on your iPhone or iPad).
You might be wondering how profitable can this be because Pinterest is also supposed to have computer based audience. Well, according to recently released data, the website has around 70 million uses and three fourth of them use the service on their mobiles. Now that is a nice big audience that can be reached with the App Store profile.
How successful do you think this move is going to be?
