Facebook Introduces New Feature to Improve the Way You Buy and Sell Items
Do you use Facebook to buy and sell items? Then the following news is for you. Facebook has introduced a new feature to its “For Sale Groups,” that will help users buy and sell items more conveniently.
While creating a new post for the item you are selling, the new “Sell” feature will allow you to add a description of the product, helping the buyer know more about the item on sale. Moreover, you can also add a price point in addition to a pick-up or delivery location.
There are millions of groups on Facebook and “Sale Groups” are among the most popular. These groups are used to sell items similar to the renowned Craigslist. Empowering users with more features, looks like a move on Facebook’s part to take on the likes of Craigslist and eBay.
Users sell a range of items from handicrafts to electronics and other equipment. The new Sell feature will definitely make them use Facebook for this purpose more frequently.
Previously, sellers would just post images of their products and write a text description to attract potential buyers. Now, this Sell feature will provide users with a better structure for describing their products.
Often, sellers would need to be reminded of adding a price or a location. This will not happen again as they will be asked to fill out all the necessary details beforehand.
That will also benefit buyers as they will no longer have to comment or message the seller for specific details. Everything will be available in the post, thus making the process a bit faster and efficient.
One of the major problems with the older system was indeed these request comments for more details. They caused older posts to jump on top of the group page, overshadowing new ads. Moreover, there was no way to let buyers know of the availability of the product.
After an ad has been posted, sellers can mark it as “available” or “sold.” Buyers will instantly know if the product is still available or has been sold out.
The feature was first seen back in December during pilot testing. Facebook later confirmed its development for Facebook Groups. Finally, this convenient feature is released for iOS, Android and web.
Lastly, Facebook says they will keep adding new features to further enhance its users’ experience in sale groups. More features are expected in the coming months.
