Katy Perry Will be Featured In A New Glu Mobile Game
After successful production of “Kim-Kardashian: Hollywood,” the company is now making a similar game with singer and songwriter Katy Perry.
Glu Mobile issued a statement today revealing its five-year partnership with the singer, and as part of that partnership, the studio will introduce a new game that will have Perry’s voice and likeness. The game will be launched at the end of this year.
“Katy is arguably the most recognized musician in America following her Super Bowl XLIX Halftime performance this past Sunday,” said Glu Mobile CEO, Niccolo de Masi. “She is a cultural icon and we expect to translate key elements of her success into an innovative, highly entertaining mobile experience.”
The company discussed the prospect of the new game in a presentation. It says because fans of Perry are more than two times of Kardashian’s 78 million, the new deal is going to be more fruitful for Glu.
Glu has been filling its money bags with “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” as the game has been downloaded more than 28 million times. Glu earned $74.3 million last year for its sales, which is more than one third of its revenue. An Analyst revealed to Bloomberg that another $200 million is expected in this summer’s in-app purchases. Wow!!!
But why did the game become such a national fantasy?
Actually people become literally addicted to its format: Players enter in the virtual Hollywood and then strive for the fame under the instructions of pre-instructed animated Kim. They become Kim’s family members in a way they can talk to her sisters and mother. Nice parody indeed!
While sharing his sentiments about Kardashian game in October, Masi said the Kardashian game “is unique, as you know, in that it mirrors a lot of what’s happening in the real world in the virtual space.”
Executives observed on today’s call “a real living, breathing, evolving person” is “perfect for game play.” Moreover, they talked about their circumspection in picking up the celebrities for such contracts. They said that the company tries to sign any contract after careful anticipation of a celebrity’s future in the coming few years.
Glu has indeed struck a very instrumental deal with popular Perry with more than 170 million fans on social media sphere. Let’s see how dear Perry is featured by Glu Mobile’s new game!
