Imgur’s Tool Makes the Creation of GIFs Fast and Easy
To be honest, I never tried to create a GIF and before today I had no idea how to. I only saw them being used in various articles or in the comments section by readers. They are funny, interesting and often provide us a way to express our take on something in a unique way.
Creating GIFs wasn’t the hardest of things before but now, it’s a walk in the park. Thanks to a new tool released by Imgur called “Video to GIF.” As the name suggests, the tool will help you create GIFs more easily. According to the makers it’s “the easiest and fastest way to make awesome GIFs from videos.”
The process is pretty simple and takes just a couple of minutes max. First, visit the official website where you’ll see a section asking you to paste a video’s link in it. Obviously, to create a GIF you need a video and for a video you need a URL.
The URL for the video you want to use should be pasted in that section. Once that’s done, the video will be embedded and start playing. Next step is to crop the section of the video you want to use and remove the rest.
That’s it! Add some text and your GIF is ready to make a point around the Internet.
Imgur is claiming that the tool is compatible with over 500 video sharing websites, including the popular YouTube, Vine, Vimeo and many more.
Through this tool, Imgur is introducing a new GIF format called “.gifv.” It works the same way as the previous “.gif” file format, but there are some differences.
GIFV will has the capability of holding high quality GIFs on a small scale. However, while the new tool has made creation of a GIF fast and easy, sharing it with the new format could become a headache.
You will require the correct embed code to share it on a website. Moreover, you won’t be able to share it via email without digging the HTML. With that said, GIFV clips work on Imgur without an issue. It’s unclear how will Video to GIF will impact GIFs around the Internet, but it’s definitely making the experience better on Imgur.
Another issue is related to the format you’re getting. The tool doesn’t make it clear if your GIF will be .gifv or.gif. It’s certainly not ready but with minor improvements, this could potentially be one of the most popular GIF tools around.
