Report: HTC One M9 To Have 20MP Camera, Set To Arrive In March
HTC is reportedly planning to unveil its flagship phone, the One M9, in March with improved camera and specs. HTC’s long awaited smartwatch will also be unveiled along with the smartphone. Taiwanese company has been facing decline in sales for three years and it hopes to see some progress in its sales charts with these top-notch devices.
Sources familiar with Bloomberg reported that HTC’s smartphone codenamed One M9 will have a 20MP camera. This is a major improvement from its predecessor One M8, which had “ultrapixel” camera — the only feature of M8 that was not better than other flagship phones. However, HTC UltraPixel will be found as front-facing camera in One M9.
As for its design, it will look much like One M8 draped in gray, gold or silver. Most of the flagship phones are moving towards big sized screens (usually 5-inch+) but the size and design of M9 will be similar to M8. The best feature in its specs is undoubtedly its eight-core processor — Qualcomm Snapdragon 810.
This chip from Qualcomm has such high demand these days that the company is unable to produce as many units as required by smartphone manufacturers. There were some rumors that Galaxy Note 4’s improved version will have Snapdragon 810 processor but these rumors were ruled off as Samsung revealed that it will stick with Exynos chips for the new version.
However, Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumored to be powered by the same chip.
If the report is true, HTC One M9 might be the first phone that will come with Snapdragon 810. It will have Dolby 5.1 audio technology created in collaboration with Dolby Laboratories and HTC’s latest Sense 7 user interface with improved location-based services.
Last year, HTC released action camera known as “Re” which indicated HTC’s plans to go beyond smartphones and tablets. This year in March, we will also see an HTC smartwatch that brings HTC to wearables game where Apple, Sony, Samsung and others are already competing with each other.
Still, all of these are just rumors and nothing is confirmed by the company. We will have to wait till 2nd March when HTC will be unveiling its devices in Mobile World Congress 2015. MWC is a tradeshow for phones, tablets, wearables and other mobile technologies. This year, it will take place in Barcelona from 2 to 5 March.
Will HTC One M9 be the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 810? Or Samsung will launch one of its devices in the same conference and steal the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
