Google Glass Pulled From Market, New Futuristic Version In Development
Google Glass eyewear gained some popularity after its launch, but it didn’t prove to be the ground-breaking product that people were hoping for. So Google has decided to pull the Glass eyewear from the market altogether. Sales end Jan. 19
Now, there could be a lot of reasons behind it but mainly it was taken off because it wasn’t doing as well as Google would have hoped for when they first came up with the product.
However, this is not the end, as Google assures that the kit is not dead and Glass eyewear will make a comeback but with “future versions of the Glass,” which I hope will be up to the quality that people have come to expect from Google’s product.
No release date has been provided for the new version but it looks like we will not be seeing it anytime soon, as a lot of work needs to be done before the Glass can be of the quality that really minimizes the need for the use of mobile phones.
Price could also have been the main reason for the Google Glass flop, as it was costing £990 pounds each, which is a large sum of money. A lot of people were looking forward to the gadget, but they preferred to just use their mobile phones when they learned about the price of the product.
Another reason for pulling it off the grid could be its battery life, which lasted only a few hours at most. This was certainly the biggest downside for the device because when people pay £990 pounds for a product, they expect it to be with them all the time, but with just few hours of battery time, the users were only worried about keeping it working rather than enjoying their time with it.
Then Google Glass largely depended on the smartphone for almost everything. Most of the features that are currently present in the Glass eyewear can be easily found in mobile phones with a bunch of other options, which is why people preferred to just go with the phones.
Now that the product has taken off the shelves for improvement, we hope that Google has learnt its lessons and when they comeback with the futuristic version of Google Glass, it will really be the product for the future that was initially promised to the consumers.
