Skype for iOS Testing Program Announced By Microsoft
Skype is one of the most popular apps around the world. It simplifies communication and has a user-friendly interface across all platforms.
There are some gray areas in the app though, and Microsoft knows that. So the company wants your help and feedback to improve Skype for iPhone mobile application and for this purpose, the company has announced a Testing Program for iOS Skype users.
Users will get early access to unfinished versions of Skype, and can give Microsoft their response and feedback to make the app better.
“We’re looking for enthusiastic Skype users who are interested in providing feedback that will shape and enhance Skype for iOS to join our new pre-release program,” wrote Microsoft in a post yesterday.
Users can volunteer to take part in the testing process and can register here. However, you better hurry up as spots are limited. Also, you must be at least 18 years of age, must have a verifiable email address, Skype and Microsoft account in order to participate.
Users will have access to new features before they are released and details will be shared which should be kept under wraps. To avoid any leaks, it seems that volunteers might have to sign an NDA. It’s not clearly mentioned but is implied in the registration post.
Along with this announcement, Microsoft released Skype version 5.9 for iPhone. In this new version, improvements have been made to dial pad and chat picker. According to the post:
In Skype 5.9 for iPhone, when you start typing a phone number in the dial pad, Skype will suggest contacts with matching phone numbers, making it faster to find who you want to talk to.
As for the chat picker, starting conversations are made easier and users can now tap the call or video option on the top.
Once you’ve chosen who you want to talk to, tap the phone or video icon at the top to start your call. (To open the chat picker, tap on the message icon on the bottom navigation bar when in the recents, favorites or people view.)
Apart from these two improvements, nothing notable comes with version 5.9. You can read further details of Skype’s latest version by following the link given above.
