Samsung’s New Galaxy Phones Are Cheap And Look Like iPhones
Samsung has been experiencing significant decline in its quarterly sales. The company suffered 60 percent decline to $3.9 billion in the most recent quarter compared with a year ago. To make its way back to the profits-lane, Samsung is now looking at different ways to regain its position.
In one of such attempts, Samsung unveiled two new Galaxy phones yesterday that look similar to Apple iPhones. These phones are aimed at emerging markets and feature a design similar to iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s — metal edges.
The two phones Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are Samsung’s slimmest phones ever. Galaxy A3 is 6.7mm while Galaxy A5 is 6.9mm thick. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone 6, which is Apple’s slimmest phone ever, is 6.9mm and iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm.
Galaxy A3 will feature relatively low-end specs than Galaxy A5. Both will be powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor. A3 will have 1GB of RAM while A5 will have 2GB RAM. A3 will have 4.5-inch qHD Super Amoled display while A5’s display will be 5-inch HD Super Amoled.
As for the battery, A3 will have 1,900 mAh battery and A5 will have 2,300 mAh. Here is a complete list of specs of both phones.
Samsung is marketing these phones towards youths by touting about its front camera that is designed for taking high quality selfies. Both A3 and A5 feature a 5MP front camera which is better than Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6. The main camera, however, is different in both phones. A3 features an 8MP shooter while A5 has a 13MP camera.
Galaxy A3 and A5 both come with amazing selfie-specific features, like Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, Animated GIF, Beauty Face Features, and Rear-cam Selfie.
With the likes of Xiaomi and Huawei climbing up the ladder by targeting emerging markets with the introduction of affordable low-end smartphones, Samsung also looks to join the herd with its latest Galaxy phones. It is a good move from Samsung as it would help them in strengthening their position among low-end phones, and then focus on flagship phones, like Note 4 and Galaxy S5.
It is not clear yet if the new Galaxy phones will be coming to America or not. These phones will launch in November in markets such as China.
