Motorola Nexus 6 Rumored To Feature 5.9” QHD Display, 13MP Rear Camera, And More
I have been waiting for Nexus 6 for months and have grown tired of reading every other news article “revealing” specs of Google’s next flagship phone. The hype around Nexus 6 is growing day by day as it is expected that Google will announce the release date in October.
Skipping all the rumors about Google’s next device circulating over the Internet for last couple of months, AndroidPolice — a credible source — is confident that Google’s next flagship phone will be made by Motorola and it will be called Nexus 6, and not Nexus X. The device is out of the league of smartphones and has moved towards phablet category.
As for the appearance of the phone, it will be a huge 5.9-inch device, having front-facing stereo speakers (finally!). The power button and volume rocker are placed downward to make them easily accessible, despite of the large size. We can say that it is a variation of Moto X because of its similar body design, just that Nexus 6 is bigger.
I know, I know that you are still curious about its specs and wondering what more does Google has to offer than the OnePlus One and LG G3. AndroidPolice believes that Nexus 6 will feature a QHD-display on a massive 5.92” screen having incredible 496ppi! To meet display requirements, the device will be backed up by 3200+ mAh battery (that’s much as compared to Nexus 5). The rear camera will be 13MP with OIS, and it will have new dual-flash ring configuration. Front camera will be 2MP.
What about processor, RAM and storage? Well, AndroidPolice is silent about that. However, another report suggests that Nexus 6 will have a 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.
Apart from specs, Nexus 6 will have some new stuff on home screen. The icons for dialer, Play Store, and Gmail have been revamped. In addition to these, Maps and Google have got new icons too. There is a new folder on home screen containing Drive’s editing apps. A new type of icon is also seen on the home screen, and we are not yet sure what it would be. It could be a new messaging app, but I hope it isn’t because Hangouts is one of the best messaging apps I have ever used.
Considering the specs revealed by AndroidPolice, it is obvious that Motorola Shamu will be the Nexus 6. But what about people like me who prefer 5” to 5.5” phones? There is no news about whether there will be a small-sized version or not. There are only two cases, either Google has a small-sized version in its backyard while 5.9” model’s specs have been leaked, or there is no small-sized version.
It is possible that Google will release two versions of its next device calling one Nexus 6 and other Nexus X.
I hope Google follows Apple’s strategy by releasing a smaller version of Nexus 6 too, but without bringing down its specs. Otherwise, many people would prefer LG G3 or OnePlus One over Nexus 6.
