Sony Brings Better Battery Life And PS4 Support With Upcoming Z3 Smartphones
Sony has made huge promises to its users by declaring a two-day battery life along with the PlayStation 4 Remote Play for its Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones.
Z3 is being released just after six months of the launch of Z2, and Z3 Compact in place of Z1 which went into markets an year ago. Both of the phones accounted for great processing power with quad core processors and waterproof bodies. However, after achieving durability and fast performance, Sony is now moving on to one of the biggest problems we all face which come with these luxuries – battery life.
“The single thing that frustrates consumers the most is that their phone does not last all day,” Calum MacDougall, head of mobile marketing at Sony, told the Guardian. “We’ve really applied ourselves to try and solve that and we don’t believe the tradeoff of having a 2K screen against battery life is the right one.”
A 2K screen has very high pixel density, as high as making it difficult to differentiate between a full HD and 2k screen. However, it drains the battery considerably, something which the users don’t like compromising on. So Sony has focused on energy efficiency by sticking with full HD resolution, with brightness up to 600 candela and has instead reduced the power usage.
Along with increasing the battery life of the smartphone, Sony has also built in PS4 Remote Play support (like PS Vita) which means that gamers can connect their phone to the PS4 through Wi-Fi and DualShock 4 controller through Bluetooth. There is also an optional feature of mounting the phone to DualShock’s joypad.
The Z3 and Z3 Compact are equipped with the following features:
- 20.7 MP camera with digital image stabilization
- Hi-res audio support
- Digital noise cancellation
- Waterproof exterior that can survive immersion in up to 1.5m of fresh water for 30 minutes.
- DSEE HX, a digital music engine that converts low quality audio files in high frequency into hi-resolution audio. Works in a similar fashion as up-scaling video.
Both of the versions differ in screen size and body material. The Z3 has a 5.2-inch screen with a metal frame with nylon corners to absorb the impact if dropped onto a hard surface. The Z3 Compact goes for plastic edges with a 4.6-inch screen but full specifications like the Z3.
Moreover, Sony has also announced its Z3 Tablet Compact, an 8-inch tablet with full HD screen, 8 MP rear camera, 6.4 mm thickness, and is unsurprisingly waterproof.
Get ready to be run over by the Sony invasion as it intends to start selling all of these three smart products, along with two smartwatches, this autumn.
