Lenovo Announces Three New Products Prior To Pre-IFA 2014 Event
IFA 2014 is set to begin on 5th September but it seems Lenovo could not wait to show fans what it has in store for them, not even for its pre-IFA event scheduled to happen tomorrow. The company unveiled its first ever 8-inch Android tablet powered by an Intel Atom processor. Titled S8, the tablet was announced alongside two other products, the Y70 Touch gaming laptop and the Erazer X315 gaming desktop. There is still no word on the release date of the tablet.
Priced at 200$, the Lenovo S8 would be the first ever Android powered device created by the company, which previously only used Windows or Windows Phone OS on its tablets. Running on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, the S8 will be equipped with an 8-inch screen capable of 1920×1200 pixels running on a Quad Core Intel Atom processor (1.33GHz base clock, up to 1.86GHz) and 2GB RAM.
The 8-megapixel camera and all other device functions will use the 16GB built-in storage. So far there has been no word from Lenovo whether this storage can be expanded or not.
Apart from boasting of the Tab S8’s ultra-thin screen bezels, Lenovo says the tablet also features dual front-facing speakers powered by Dolby Audio. The company has listed Ebony, Blue, Canary, Yellow, and White color variants for the Tab S8, which measures 209.8×123.8×7.9mm, and weighs 299 grams.
The other devices revealed seemed to be designed to put Lenovo in the gamers market. The Y70 Touch gaming laptop, which according to the company is its first 17-inch touch device, is available to buy now from Lenovo’s US online stores while major retailers are scheduled to have it in stock sometime in October.
The laptop comes in 3 models with prices starting from $1,400 and will be running on Windows 8.1 64 bit OS. Powered by Intel’s 4th generation i7 processors (4710HQ 2.5 GHz), these machines sure seem to be a force to reckon with.
Lastly, the Erazer X315 gaming desktop was also introduced by Lenovo ahead of its pre-IFA 2014 event. The device will be available in November this year with major retailers with a starting price tag of $599.
The Erazer X315 gives users two choices between the 3.1GHz Quad Core AMD A8-7600 and 3.7GHz Quad Core AMD A10-7850k processors. With the AMD A8-7600, users get a 2GB AMD Radeon R9 255 GPU, 1TB+8GB SSHD inbuilt storage, and 8GB of RAM. Whereas the AMD A10-7850k version comes equipped with a 2GB AMD Radeon R9 260 GPU, 2TB+8GB SSHD inbuilt storage, and 12GB of RAM.
Judging by the specifications, the gaming desktop seems a pretty mediocre product which would barely be able to run the next generation games with the GPU it comes equipped with.
