Samsung Says No To Google By Bringing Nokia’s Here Maps To Galaxy Phones
Samsung has decided to leave the famous Google Maps behind in favor of Nokia’s Here maps. It has already been announced that the beta version of Here for Android will be made available for all Samsung Galaxy devices along with the upcoming Gear S smartwatch as soon as it is released in the stores this October.
Do note that the Here app will be exclusive to Samsung Galaxy sets and will not be available for other smartphone models of Samsung as well as any other smartphone brand. The popularity of Here map has been on the rise since its first release because its use makes your journey way easier than it is with Google Map.
Here gives you street by street guide to every single location and tells you where you need to take turn and how long will you be there, and it also takes into account the speed, making it an extremely desirable app for everyone.
However, due to high demand of Android phones, the Here maps were largely ignored but it looks like that it will not be the case anymore as the users of Samsung who own any of the Galaxy mobile phone sets will be able to find their destinations by Here Maps in just a couple of months.
The best thing you can do for the consumers is to give them options and then it is up to them to decide whether they want to go with Nokia’s Here maps or with Google Maps. The biggest advantage that Nokia’s Here maps has over Google Maps is the ability to give detail of every single area in the country while you are using the app offline.
To do that, you will just need to connect to the Internet once and download the map of a whole country and after that you are free to do whatever you want with the Here maps. Another advantage that I already mentioned in the article above is the turn by turn guidance which Here is providing for over 100 countries and that is a large number.
However, people who are not interested in this new map has nothing to worry about as Samsung is not going to remove the Google Maps from their phones and quite frankly, it cannot be done because Samsung smartphones are using the Android OS that is being made by Google.
However, in future when Tizen operating system has large community then Samsung might consider ditching the Google Maps in favor of Nokia’s Here Maps in their mobile phones. Meanwhile, Galaxy users must be really glad with this new decision from the company as it gives them more options to choose from.
What do you think of the Samsung’s decision to add Nokia Here maps to Galaxy phones?
