Google Buys Cloud-Based Visual Effects Rendering Firm Zync
Zync, the maker of the powerful visual effects software named Zync Render, has been bought by none other than Google. This announcement was made yesterday, when it was revealed that the creators of one of the popular visual effects softwares will now be controlled by the Internet giant Google.
Zync Render is a cloud-based rendering software that helps the movie makers add multiple graphical effects to their movies and give realistic feel to the scenes involving robots, crashes, buildings coming down, explosions etc. There is no limit to what this software is capable of achieving and with Google owning the rights to it, you can expect the company to get even more expansive.
Few of the popular movies such as Flight of Denzel Washington and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek into Darkness used this software from Zync to add special effects to the movies, and anyone who has seen both of the mentioned movies will definitely give credit to the incredible software.
Google has boasted about its purchase of incredible software, however, it has not yet mentioned how much the company had to pay for it, but considering the popularity of Zync Inc, we can safely say that a lot of amount was paid to the company to get the ownership of the software that is attracting movie makers all around the world.
After the acquisition, Google posted the following statement on its Cloud Platform blog:
Together Zync + Cloud Platform will offer studios the rendering performance and capacity they need, while helping them manage costs. For example, with per-minute billing studios aren’t trapped into paying for unused capacity when their rendering needs don’t fit in perfect hour increments.
It looks like that Google is trying to strengthen their Cloud Platform for which they need big companies like Zync under their belt. Back in May, Stackdriver was bought by Google and that cloud monitoring service allows users to keep an eye on all of their cloud-based applications, see the stats on how the cloud platform is working at the moment, thus giving a lot of options to the users that they want.
Google assured people at that time that their ownership of Stackdriver will not affect any of the features and as the time will go on, even more features will be added to it so that the users’ experience can be made a whole lot easier and can take advantage of capabilities of the monitoring platform.
However, coming back to Zync, which not only gathered attention from the big movie studios, but small studios were also able to use this software to add special effects to their movies because there was a policy to rent out the software, which worked in favor of many movie makers, and of course for the company.
Now that Google has acquired Zync Inc, we will see how they will follow up with it to make it even bigger software in the market.
