China Plans To Launch Its Own Operating System In October
China has been making its way into the markets all around the world very steadily and now it looks like that they are going to develop their own operating system to go against the likes of Microsoft, Apple and Google.
This is according to Xinhua, the news agency that works directly under the government of China. The good news for Chinese people is that they will not even have to wait for too long to get their hands on this new operating system as it is scheduled to see the light of day in just over a month in October. After its release in China, we may very well see it releasing across the world which would certainly give other companies run for their money.
This operating system will first make its way to desktop computers, and if it is successfully tested and performs without any issues, then it will be expanded to smartphones and other devices that utilize the OS.
The head of this project is Ni Guangnan, who is a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He stated that this operating system is being developed so that the Chinese government is able to protect their private information from rest of the world.
The computer technology has been the reason for so many issues as there were numerous events that included cyber security, and now China wants to ditch the Windows and Android and bring their own OS to the table so that it no longer have to depend on any other country for any kind of help when it comes to computer technology.
Earlier this year, Chinese government banned the use of Windows 8, Microsoft’s latest operating system, which was the first sign for the rest of the world that China is going to launch their homegrown OS. This was a huge blow for Redmond-based company as they were going to lose a large number of consumers with this ban hammer.
Guangnan’s initial comments were reported by People’s Post as he said:
We hope to launch a Chinese-made desktop operating system by October supporting app stores.
Another person who became the reason for China to develop their own OS was Edward Snowden, who in June of last year leaked confidential information regarding NSA’s installation of surveillance tools on local hardware.
After this incident, China got really cautious with the American tech products, and that is why they are working on to create their own technology. Previously, there were operating systems created in China, but none of them was at par with that of Microsoft, Google or Apple.
However, now Chinese Govt. is looking very serious with this new project and in October, we will see how much impact the new operating system could make in the country.
